Google Nexus 7 is the latest 7-inch tablet from Google and Asus and is the first tablet to come out with the Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system. The mere fact that it’s developed by Google, the creator of the Android system, already means that this is not just any tablet and that we’re getting the best the Android OS has to offer.
I have a phone that runs on the Android system. I also have a Kindle Fire which, as you may know, runs on the Amazon version of the Android system. The first difference I noticed in the Google Nexus 7 is that it’s way faster than my phone and Kindle. Even my husband who’s on his iPad most of the time noticed the fast response to our clicks. The design is another big plus for us. Compared to our other tablets, this one is really thin (10.45 mm) and light. While it may not be as big of a deal for some, the weight and thickness of the Kindle Fire really turned me off. I mean, it’s not like it’s a 10-inch tablet! I don’t want to add too much weight to my already heavy diaper bag so there were times when I just left my it at home. But the Google Nexus 7 is something I really liked because it was thinner and lighter.
I loved the fact that I was sent a 16GB Google Nexus tablet!
I’m such an addict for storage that’s why my laptop has 500GB of storage (I haven’t even used up half of it!). But the big storage makes me feel confident in the fact that I can just download whatever I need without worrying if I’m running past the limited storage. It would have been better if it had expandable storage but then most of the really good tablets out there don’t have that either.
The main feature I loved about the Google Nexus 7 is Google Play.
Imagine being able to download and have access to more than 600,000 apps, music, movies and more! Why is this the most important thing for me? Because I’ve experienced needing an app and not being able to download it on my Kindle Fire because the Amazon Appstore doesn’t carry the app I need! Here’s a quick video I took so you can see the tablet in action.
The Google Nexus 7 8GB is available for purchase at $199 while the 16GB version is priced at $249. Check out the full specs and features on Staples.com!
Thank you for the review. I am in the market for a new tablet and was actually considering one of these…

This would work for me. I have an iPad but – I never see it. My 14yo daughter stole it. It sounds like the Nexus 7 would work better for me anyway. I really am illiterate to these tablets, which makes it very frustrating for me. I need simplicity and I already know Google well, as well as all their programs – so this sounds like I would get a LOT more use out of it than I do the iPad – that is when I can get MY hands on it.
This looks really AWESOME and an affordable alternative to an iPad! Thanks for sharing!

I was looking at this at Staples a couple of weeks ago. It has some cool features. I do like my Kindle Fire, but if I were in the market for another tablet, I think I would lean toward the Nexus 7.

I’m really wishing that we had waited and gotten an android instead of the hyped one! So much cheaper and accomplishes the same things!

I love the iPad but it would sure be nice to have a tablet that supports Flash!
I really want one of these, because they support flash.
Thanks. I’ve been looking into one of these!
I’m thinking I’m going to go with this tablet, instead of the iPad for my boyfriend…The Flash support is great, and it seems affordable. thanks for the review.

Super. I was interested in one of these, and am still wondering what size to get, but it sounds like 16 GB might be more than ample.
