Book Review: The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers

I received a copy of “The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers” for purposes of evaluation. Thoughts are my own.

I don’t have a daughter, but I do have nieces and goddaughters and I love giving them small gifts whenever I could. When I saw The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers, I knew I wanted to give it to my friend’s daughter, age 4, who started being part of our church’s tambourine ministry when she was just 3 years old.

The sweetest things surround a little girl’s life: hearts and flowers, kittens and puppies, umbrellas and tea parties, kisses and hugs. But the sweetest thing of all in her life is God’s love. The Sweetest Story Bible for Toddlers includes eight beloved Bible stories that show how much God loves his people and every little girl. This board book includes a padded cover, perfect for reading with little ones.

I love that this book features 8 well-loved Bible stories — Creation, Noah’s Ark, Baby Moses, Queen Esther, the Birth of Jesus, Jesus’ Ministry, Jesus’ Crucifixion, and Jesus’ Resurrection — so some of these might already be familiar to young kids especially if they attend Sunday School regularly.

Each story is just 4 pages long and each page has just about 2-4 lines of words in them. This means that little girls can finish reading a story in just a few minutes.

The illustrations are cute and easily grabs a toddler’s attention because of the beautiful colors. I once read a similar children’s book and didn’t like some of the illustrations because some were a little too “dark” especially on some sad events (the plagues, Jesus’ crucifixion, etc). But this book’s illustrations didn’t feel dark at all. That’s not to say that it didn’t get its point across though.

All in all, I think this is a good book to give to toddler girls. You can give it as a “first Bible” even if it isn’t technically one.

  7. That sounds like a good childrens book. Especially since the stories aren’t too long. They can hold the childs attention and it’s easier for them to remember.

  12. I have always believed that you should plant the seed in a child when they are very young. This book sounds great for toddlers to share with & the stories are short enough to hold a tot’s short attention span. Also the Veggie Tales DVDs are great as gifts for them too!

  13. I have always believed to plant the seed of the Good Lord when they are very young! This book is great for toddlers! The 8 stories at just 4 pages long with 2 to 4 lines on each page, will keep their short attention span hooked & easier for them to understand. I love it & they will too!!

Just from the picture on the cover of the book, you can see how bright and colorful the pages must be! This would be a terrific book for my granddaughter!   32. These books about the Bible are some of the BEST gifts you can give to toddlers!! The seed should be planted early on in a child’s life. After all, the sweetest thing of all in her (or his) life is God’s love!!!

  35. I have read to all my kids and my now 1 year old will sit with her books all by herself and look and talk at the pictures. I would def get this for my little one. I love to read to her and she loves for me to do it.

  47. I have books like this for my kids I always loved reading it to them before bedtime they loved this book

  51. sounds like an interesting book. it is important for the illustrations to be in balance with the stories. it sounds like a similar book to my daughter’s own toddler bible stories book. there are lots of options to choose from, really. i think parents have to choose based on the pictoral and verbal messages in the book. we had three at one time and donated two of them because of the word choice and quality of the pictures.
