I have loved fruits ever since I was young. My parents really encouraged us to eat fruits and vegetables so it wasn’t hard for me to get used to it. I even remember our Santa Claus putting more fruits than chocolates and candies in our Christmas socks.
Now that I have a son, I want to also encourage him to love eating fruits and vegetables. And I think I’m succeeding so far because my sister-in-law just told me that she saw my son take some vegetables from my husband’s plate, eat it and say “I’m stronger now!”
Thing is, I don’t always have time every single week to go out and shop for fruits and vegetables. Recently though, I discovered a service called Farm Fresh To You.
Farm Fresh To You delivers fresh, seasonal produce directly to your door. They offer an ever-increasing selection of organic fruits and vegetables, as well as other groceries like olive oil, organic eggs or fresh flowers. Now we can get our weekly shopping done in minutes and discover how easy it is to get our family to eat more fruits and veggies.
You can order fruits and/or vegetables for as low as $26. I ordered a “Mixed Fruit and Veggie” More box which usually costs $46, but I customized it and added a few more items so it cost $49.
My box contained baby bok choy, baby broccoli, carrots, celery, collard greens, green kale, red grapes, red plums, mini seedless watermelon, valencia oranges, white corn, and yellow peaches.
I’m using some of the produce I ordered for juicing and some for plain simple snacking.
I just got into juicing and was drawn to it because I’ve read about how juicing helps us get more nutrients into our system. Right now, I’m just drinking green juice as a daily supplement. But I’m looking into maybe doing a juice cleanse one time. For now, here are some combinations of fruits and vegetables I used:
- Combination of: 1 bundle green kale, 3 celery stalks, 3 carrots, 1 orange, 1 apple
- Combination of: 5 carrots, 3 celery stalks, 1 pear
- Combination of: 1 bundle kale, 1 bundle baby bok choy, 1 leaf of collard greens, 1 orange
I simply run the fruits and vegetables through my juicer and it does its job! I like to add 1-2 ice cubes to my juice because I like my green juice really cold.
I also like to eat my fruits fresh as it is. That watermelon didn’t even last a day at home. As soon as I cut it up (and after I took some pictures), everyone here just devoured it! It tasted so good! I really loved it!
My son, on the other hand, really enjoyed the grapes. They had the right tenderness and were sweet too. It wasn’t like some of the overly tender grapes I sometimes buy in stores.
The grapes did last us 2 days, but that’s just because we ate the watermelon first and just reserved the grapes for the following day.
