Register For The “Arts Really Teach” Conference!

Cilker ArtsAre you a teacher here in the Bay Area? Or perhaps you know someone who is? Great news! The Marion Cilker “Arts Really Teach” Conference is now open for registration!

As most of you already know, I started working full-time last month and I’m really blessed to have the opportunity to work at our county’s Office of Education. As an employee here, I get to know about different programs and events geared towards students and teachers.

And one of those awesome events I think I just really have to share is the Marion Cilker “Arts Really Teach” Conference on November 14th.

The 7th Annual Marion Cilker “Arts Really Teach” Conference for PK-8th grade teachers will have exciting workshops from the San Jose Museum of Art, The Tech Museum of Innovation, Children’s Discovery Museum, Symphony Silicon Valley, San Jose Museum of Textiles and Quilts, and CreaTV!

The Marion Cilker Conference for the Arts in Education is an annual event that aims to encourage teaching and learning through the arts for all diverse learners, and to demonstrate the importance of infusing the arts into the classroom curriculum.

The conference will help forge curricular connections between the arts and other subjects teachers teach, and show the ways that the arts can help educators meet the Common Core State Standards and the California Preschool Learning Foundations. Participants will also learn how to provide direct instruction in artistic processes and skills that can be transferred to the educator’s classroom.

Teachers will have the opportunity to visit some of San Jose’s non-profit arts organizations and find out about their resources for students and educators. This is definitely a great opportunity for teachers!

Space is limited so register for the 2015 Marion Cilker Arts Really Teach Conference now!
