Sweetworks 4th of July

My son loves helping me out whenever I cook or prepare food — especially when it involves anything sweet. And when Sweetworks sent me a huge package of candy and I told him we will be making treats, he got excited!

Sweetworks Sam

Fourth of July is coming up and a lot of us will be having family reunions during the holiday. If you want to involve your kids in preparing treats for your celebration, then here are some easy treats that you can do with little ones!

Patriotic Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods

Sweetworks 4

A few years ago, a friend gave me some chocolate covered pretzel rods for Christmas and I’ve been in love with these snacks ever since. So I decided to create some 4th of July-themed chocolate covered pretzel rods using the foiled solid milk chocolates and candy crumble from SweetWorks.

Instructions: Melt 2 cups of milk chocolate (grated for quick melting) and 2 tbsp shortening by placing it in a bowl and placing that bowl on a wider bowl with hot water. Dip pretzel rods in melted chocolate and sprinkle with candy crumble. Place on parchment paper and let it cool in the refrigerator.

This was a team effort for me, my son and his cousin. I was the one in charge of covering the pretzel rods with chocolate and they were the ones in charge of sprinkling it with the candy crumble. I must say they really enjoyed seeing and tasting their finished work!

Patriotic Rice Krispies Treats

Sweetworks 2

I did 2 versions (a star and a flag version) of the rice krispies treats and I’m sure you can think of a lot more! You just need a 10oz bag of marshmallows, 2 tbsp butter, 6 cups rice krispies, and sixlets (red, white and blue) from SweetWorks.

Instructions: Melt 2 tbsp butter on low heat, then add the marshmallows. Stir until consistent. Add in 6 cups of rice krispies and mix until well coated. Press the resulting mix into a pan coated with cooking spray. Let it sit for a few minutes until cool. Cut and decorate.

Sweetworks 5

I used a star-shaped cookie cutter for the star rice krispies treats, and a regular knife for the flag treat. Then I let my son and his cousin place the sixlets on the treats, though I had to guide them in placing the sixlets on the flag.

Sweetworks 3

There are lots of things you can do with candies from SweetWorks whatever the occasion may be! Which specific SweetWorks product do you see yourself using for your holiday celebration? Be sure to check out the SweetWorks website, and follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest!

One lucky reader will win a $50 selection of Patriotic Sweetworks Candy including celebrations pearls, sixlets and gumballs!
