Our Valentine’s Movie Date Night In #BestofValentine

Like most ladies, I love being loved by my husband. I love it when he does sweet little things that I don’t expect. And I love it when he does things that I expect him to do. Case in point, giving me something on Valentine’s Day. I don’t require my husband to give me something expensive whenever there’s an occasion. I just want to know that he took the time to think of something special. And when I woke up on Valentine’s Day, this is what greeted me:

Valentines flowers

I loved it! So much! It’s been a long time since he last gave me a bouquet of flowers. He almost always just gives me some beautifully arranged chocolate covered strawberries. Don’t get me wrong. I love those strawberries. But we both know that those strawberries are for him too. It isn’t just a gift for me — it’s a gift for the two of us.  So now that he’s giving me something he doesn’t necessarily like, I appreciate it even more.

We decided to have a date night in that evening. And our chosen movie was The Best of Me. Based on the #1 New York Times Best Seller from celebrated author Nicholas Sparks comes this tender, romantic drama about the timeless power of love.

Best Of Me

When former high school sweethearts Dawson and Amanda (James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan) meet at a loved one’s funeral 20 years after tragedy separated them, their love is reignited. As they recall and relive the past, they come to a deeper understanding about the choices they’ve made.

Also starring Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato, and featuring beautiful scenery along with music by Lady Antebellum, The Best of Me is a powerfully romantic story of love, hope and second chances.

Best of Me Valentine's Day

We ordered some pizza and wings for our date night. And since we both don’t drink, we just had some soda instead of wine. But that did not in any way diminish the romantic atmosphere we were aiming for.

SPOILER ALERT! You can go ahead and skip the next paragraph if you haven’t watched the movie yet.

The ending of this movie is bittersweet, but it’s a good thing that we received the “Tears of Joy” Edition Blu-ray and DVD which includes an all-new storyline and “Storybook” Alternate Ending so Amanda and Dawson finally get that second chance at love. Whew! That’s definitely an ending I’d prefer.

Best of Me Date Night

I consider myself blessed to have such a loving husband. He’s not always sweet — which I think is just really the way most men are — but I know he tries his best to show me that our family is his priority in life. And I’m glad we were able to spend some quality time watching a really good tearjerker movie.

How was your Valentine’s Day?

Our Valentine’s Movie Date Night In #BestofValentine — 25 Comments

  1. Thanks so much for sharing your Valentine’s Day with us!Our Valentine’s Movie Date Night In #BestofValentine! My husband has never believed in Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas, etc. etc. and I’ve never really been given anything from him in so many years! I didn’t expect anything this year because of his surgery and not being able to drive or do much of anything for a month! When I woke up on Valentine’s Day, I smelled coffee and bacon, which had me confused! After I got dressed and all, I went downstairs and he had made breakfast which was waiting for the both of us! I was shocked! Of course, I had to do the dishes! But, it was definitely the thought that counts! Later in the day, there was a knock on our front door, it was a delivery of flowers! I almost passed out! I could not believe he had actually ordered me flowers for delivery! Especially, because how much he reminds me not to spend more than $50 on groceries! ($50 nowadays doesn’t go very far when you need the essentials like milk, bread, eggs, cheese, etc.) But, once again, it’s the thought that counts! I thought that your flowers were absolutely Gorgeous! Why a white rose and not red? The White roses we absolutely beautiful! It was great that you also got to spend time alone and watch a movie together! Very nice! Thanks for sharing your wonderful Valentine’s Day with all of us! I really appreciated reading about it! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

  7. Thanks so much for sharing your date night with us you both looked like you had lots of fun together. It’s so nice being able to share holidays with someone that you love. We had a wonderful evening out together to our favorite restaurant Texas Roadhouse.I enjoyed being able to have some alone time with him with our busy lives and the kids we don’t always take the time just for us it was wonderful.

  8. My husband and I ordered in because it was just to cold to go to a nice restaurant, and park in the ice. We’ll do something special when it warms up!

  9. I wish my husband were romantic. He’ll bring me gifts, the problem is that they’re practical items. big screen t.v, jeans, a vac that also washes the floor, stuff like that. I appreciate it but I’m still female and would love something frivolous.

  10. Not only flowers…but he watched a chick flick with you? My husband would I think draw the line at the movie. Sounds like you married a very sweet man.

  11. Beautiful flowers. I enjoyed this movie and definitely preferred the alternate ending. Sounds like you guys had a wonderful Valentines Day date night!

  12. I like it when my husband not only agrees to watch a movie of my choice, we always get two he picks one, I pick the other. I like it if we’re watching a tearjerker and I get teary eyed, he often does too and isn’t ashamed of it.
