See Your Phone’s Screen On Your TV Using NETGEAR Push2TV!

I am a NETGEAR Ambassador and I received a Push2TV for purposes of evaluation. Thoughts are my own.

I consider smartphones a necessity these days. These handy little gadgets keep us connected to the world even when we’re miles away. And I absolutely love that I can document so much of my growing son’s milestones because my phone can easily capture high-quality photos and videos.

But if I want to show my husband or my relatives our photos or videos, I’d much rather have them watch it on our big screen TV than on my little phone. So I’m glad we have NETGEAR’s Push2TV to help me mirror my phone’s screen on our TV.

NETGEAR Push2TV

The NETGEAR Push2TV is designed to stream media from compatible devices and display them in high definition on a TV with an HDMI port.

It works with Miracast™-certified and Intel® WiDi wireless display enabled devices. This includes the Amazon Kindle HD, Windows 8.1 laptops, Samsung Galaxy S4 and more. I personally use it to connect my Samsung Galaxy Note II, Samsung Galaxy S3 and Moto X.

It was very easy for me to set the Push2TV up and get it to mirror my phone’s screen. Once you plug it in and onto your TV’s HDMI, it displays instructions for the different types of devices it supports.

On my Samsung Galaxy Note II and Samsung Galaxy S3, I just go to Settings > Connections > Screen Mirroring, then it starts scanning for the Push2TV.

On my Moto X, I go to Settings > Display >  Wireless Display. If Wireless Display is already turned on, it will automatically look for the Push2TV.

Since I don’t have a Windows 8.1 laptop, I was unable to test if it was just as easy to set up. But given that it took me probably just 5 minutes to set this up using my phone, I don’t think there should be any problem setting this up using a laptop.

I love using Push2TV whenever my friends and I talk about Clash of Clans (don’t judge! LOL). It’s so much easier to critique and analyze the strength of our bases when we’re seeing it on a huge screen rather than on a small phone.

I can also imagine this would be a huge help for people on vacation. You won’t need to pay fees just to watch something you really want on the hotel TV. All you need to do is hook up Push2TV and mirror your phone’s (or laptop or tablet’s) screen so you can watch whatever you want.

The only thing about the Push2TV is that it doesn’t work on Apple devices. It works on all my other devices though so that isn’t such a big deal for me.

All in all, I can say the Push2TV is a good solution for projecting your gadget’s screen onto your TV. I have not run into any problems with it in the weeks I’ve been using it so I’m confident in recommending this product! For more information, check it out on NETGEAR.com!

  5. I was honestly just talking to the hubby about this – he had mentioned that so often I want to show him something on my phone but he would prefer it if I could somehow send it to our Samsung Smart TV. Now I can tell him there is such a thing!

  6. I wondered what the deal was with this thing. I saw a short post about it on Facebook. I don’t think it is something I would enjoy. They have way to many things now a days to hook up to our phones. I don;t like streaming or watching movies or anything really substantial on my phone really because it’s just to small!! It’s weird!!

  7. NETGEAR Push2TV looks like a great product, you can view your computer or mobile screen on your TV, pretty cool.

  8. Netgear always makes wonderful products, but not sure why anyone needs to see there telephone on a large screen… I am still trying to figure out how to get my pictures from cell to instagram loll

  9. Neat device. There’s tons of these kinds of things on the market, so it’s good you have a review to help us decide!

  10. Push2tv sounds really cool! It would be so neat to be able to share photos with all my family members at once at reunions on a TV screen vs passing the phone around and not really getting to I tract with them about what they are looking at. Would love to own this. Thanks for sharing 🙂

  11. I had no idea anything like this even existed. I had to call my 25 year old son over to get a “yeah mom” like I am such a dork! lol

  14. I like the idea of the push2tv for travelling. We like to unwind with a movie or two, but than gasp at the charge. Looks easy enough to install, just wish there weren’t so many wires!

  15. That is neat! I knew we could hook our ipad up to the tv with a special cord, but hadn’t seen a wireless connection with a phone before.

  16. I SO need one of these – I am tired of having to use a cord to connect to my TV to watch Netflix…

  17. This would be awesome for me. I am always showing my family videos and such off my phone. With this I could put it on the big screen. For the record, I would have totally judged you I just didn’t even know what Clash of Clans was! I had to Google it 🙂

  18. I had never heard of this before. It’s kind of neat. We have a roku 2 and the kids use it all the time to watch netflix.

    • Yup! Most newer smartphones have Miracast or wireless display that allows screen mirroring, and those are compatible with the Push2TV. The Push2TV works as your TV’s receiver. You won’t need it though if you have one of the latest smart TVs with built-in Miracast. 🙂

  20. Hmmm..This is pretty awesome. I’ve heard of several like this but never this brand. Looks good enough to check out!

  21. Well this is awesome! Iv’e used a HDMI cord in the past to plug my phone into my tv, but it has since gotten worn out so this would be a great alternative to replacing it!

  22. This is great. We take alot of pictures with our phones so this would be the perfect way to show them to others. Thank you for sharing

  23. Sounds like a great product but unfortunately I have an iPhone so I wouldn’t be able to use it.

  24. Very cool that this streams media and displays them in high definition on a TV. How awesome is this, love! Great for games.

  25. I didn’t know that such a thing existed. I feel so out of when it comes to things like this. I’m a certain age where I missed out when all of this was new and figured I have a phone, what’s the point. Now I just feel ignorant.

  26. How cool is that? I just wish I had a smart phone so I could use all of these awesome tech gadgets. Maybe someday…….

  27. Wow, how cool is this! I’d love to be able to mirror what’s on my Kindle Fire to my t.v screen! This product is going on my wishlist! Thanks for your review and introducing me to this product!

  28. Wow such a cool gadget! Pictures and games would be so much better on the “Big Screen’! Lots of phones have wifi connection these days so you could do anything with the phone- 2 the “Big Screen’ without worrying about data usage! Neat! Thanks for the review!
