Gospel of John

FOUR GOSPELS. FOUR FILMS. ONE JESUS STORY. FOR EVERYONE.

The Lumo Project is a ground breaking, multi-language biblical film resource transforming the way we discover, study and engage with the life of Jesus through the four New Testament Gospels: redefining the standard of visual Biblical media. The Lumo Project presents four films – one for each Gospel account – that will revolutionize the way we all experience the story of Jesus and the world of First Century Palestine in which he lived.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN

The Gospel of John takes the story of Jesus from John’s gospel with its own unique characteristics. For John, Jesus is the Word of God made human. John is clear that that when encounter Jesus, we encounter God.  The gospel writer points to the miracles and teachings as evidence of Jesus’ special relationship as the divine Son of God.

Narrated by leading British actor David Harewood (‘Homeland’, ‘Blood Diamond’, ‘Merchant of Venice’) it is based on the latest theological, historical and archaeological research. With specially constructed sets and the extraordinarily authentic villages and countryside of rural Morocco, it immerses the viewer in the world of first century Palestine.

What separates this movies from other movies that I’ve watched before is that this is a narration of the verses in the gospels.

The actors speak a little in the background, but their speaking lines are in the original language. This format allowed me to focus on the narration rather than be distracted by the actors’ lines.

The movie comes in 3 versions — NIV, KJV or Spanish — and you can choose the one you prefer. This full-length feature film has a running time of about 2 hours and 40 minutes — a little longer than most movies but, even to my surprise, I didn’t get bored.

Perhaps it’s because of the way the narrator read his lines.  The narrator has such a nice voice, and he was able to add color and emotions to the words. It was also amazing how the narrator’s pauses and speaking lines coincided perfectly with the timing of the actors as they opened their mouths.

Aside from the voice of the narrator, I was also impressed by the musical scoring. I felt like they were able to play the right music at the right time — and even stop the music at the right time. All in all, I’d say this is a great movie to watch with your family and your church friends — or perhaps the whole church on Easter!

The Gospel of John is now currently available on Netflix! Be sure to add it to your list of must-watch movies on Netflix!
