Family Vacations In Las Vegas

Las Vegas is the top vacation destination in the U.S. and there is good reason for this. Along with the glamorous casinos, there is a lot of family entertainment and much of it is for free. There are comfortable and quiet family resorts such as Blue green resorts that are conveniently located to all the action.

I must admit I’ve never been to Las Vegas. But my husband and I are thinking about spending one of our future anniversaries there. But we’re not too sure if we should bring our son along with us because we’re not sure if there’s anything there for kids. But researching on this, I found a few things that families can look into if you’re considering having a family vacation to Las Vegas. As well as Vegas, we’re also thinking about visiting Oregon on day! I’ve heard a lot about this place and from what I’ve seen, the scenery is something else! A summer in sunriver would be ideal. We just need to plan this all and then we’re all good to go.

Family Resort or Hotel

Resorts offer a much better deal than hotels because they include all the same amenities and more as well as separate bedrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. You can save money on your food budget by fixing some meals in your suite and only eating in restaurants when you want to enjoy some of the best food in the country.

If you have more than one child, you may need to book two hotel rooms in order to have enough sleeping and bathroom space. In a suite, you’ll get one or two bedrooms as well as a living room. Some people even opt for the idea of staying in vacation rentals while they are in Las Vegas. As there are many forms of accommodation available, the choice is completely up to you and what works best for your requirements.

Family-friendly Activities

Las Vegas is not just about gambling anymore. The top casinos offer free shows that are spectacular, and there are several wildlife habitats and aquariums that are world-class. Here are a few of the many child-friendly attractions.

– Caesars Palace has a free show every hour that depicts the fall of Atlantis with special effects and animatronic statues.
– The Fountains of Bellagio offer a choreographed sequence of water, lights and music several times each day.
– Circus Circus offers the world’s largest indoor theme park with all the thrill rides required by kids including the 55 mph Canyon Blaster roller coaster.
– The Silverton aquarium is an 117,000-gallon saltwater tank that has more than 4,000 exotic fish. Along with the fish are mermaids who swim with the fish and interact with the kids watching from outside. These mermaids put on a show as they are professional water ballet artists. They can stay underwater for 15 minutes with special breathing apparatus throughout the tank. They are all certified scuba divers. This is a show not to be missed.
– Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat have white tigers, leopards, lions as well as dolphins. This is your chance to interact with dolphins and see the big cats up close.
– Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Cactus Garden offers free tours to learn how the candy is made and gives free samples at the end. The cactus garden is the largest in the country with more than 300 species of succulents and cacti. It’s an oasis of peace in the middle of the city.

For Older Children

– Bodies. The exhibition showcases 13 real human bodies where the non-squeamish can learn a lot about the organs and systems that make us work.
– The Mob Museum. It’s no secret that the mob was behind the first casinos in Las Vegas and this museum offers a fascinating multimedia show as well as some artifacts that give the whole story of the fight between organized crime and the law.
– Big Shot. On top of the Stratosphere, the tallest building west of the Mississippi River, there is a thrill ride that is only for the very bold. It propels you 160 feet into the air in 2.5 seconds. And that’s starting from 1,000 feet.

With a vacation rental, a trip to Las Vegas with your family could just be the best vacation you ever had.

Have you been to Las Vegas? Where do you suggest we go for some family fun?

  3. I have never ever been to Vegas but anyone who has gone I have heard incredible stories, not a place you can go that you will have a bad time, anything you do should be great.

  4. We were able to go to vacation to Las Vegas once with our daughter, who was 14 at the time. Just being the three of us we shared a room, and had the greatest time. That is until she sprained her ankle. Wear appropriate shoes, lots of walking. We loved the fountains at Bellagio, and at the time the White Tigers were still at the Mirage.

  5. I have never been to Las Vegas, but I heard that the they have the town all lite up on the buildings and a lot of Christmas trees are lit up to go see! I would love to take a trip to Las Vegas during the Holidays. I bet it looks amazing!

  12. I never really though to Las Vegas being a family friendly vacation town. With all of the gambling and such I never imagined and sites for places with small children.

  13. My husband and I have been once, actually got married there! I cannot imagine taking any of my kids there for vacation. Then again, 4 out of 5 have special needs. Over stimulation would be a huge issue for them in Las Vegas. We are more of the relaxing on the beach vacationers!

  14. I have never been to Las Vegas, but if I were to vacation in Las Vegas I would definitely visit the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory, I do love my chocolate. Thank you for sharing this post.

  15. I have been to Las Vegas several times and there are a TON of things you can do with kids there! You’ll be surprised at how many things you can even do for FREE!! The aquarium is very nice. Don’t forget Red Rock and the Zoo.. ride the little train. I don’t know how old your son is, but it will be fun for all! But don’t go when it is HOT out or you won’t enjoy your time. Try going in like April. It will be warm, but not scorching hot. The night time on the “OLD VEGAS” on FREEMONT is fun… they have a lot of lights on the ceiling and do quite a show.. something you should really see… your son would enjoy too. There is SOOOO much to see and do!!! They have live statues and the Gondolas … oh gosh.. just so much! You’ll love it!

  16. wow i love las vegas as it has been my dream destination since so many years. its pretty expensive to have a trip all the way there but i would love to visit that place once in my life.

  17. Ive been to Circus Circus over 20x. This makes me miss my Dad ! Yes there’s lots of family things you can do in Vegas not revolving around adult entertainment

  18. I have not been to Las Vegas since becoming a mother. I think it would be great to stay in a hotel or resort slightly away from the strip. There is so much to do there.

  19. I think this would be a wonderful vacation for families. I’ve never been but there sounds like plenty to do for all! Thanks!

  20. I haven’t been to Vegas yet but I was about to say that Family friendly and Vegas almost seem like oxymorons but then you’ve proven me wrong! Good to know that there are things available for families to enjoy in Las Vegas.

  21. I lived in Las Vegas for 12 years, and yes, there are a ton of family-friendly activities there, many of them free or very low cost. I would just advise NOT to go in the summer, as it’s not unusual for it to get up to 116 degrees IN THE SHADE. Even stepping in and out of cars in that weather can really get to you!

  22. I would love to go to Las Vegas and bring my teenage son; this was a very helpful post…good to know that there are family places for activities.

  23. Great ideas for younger and older children. We always think of Las Vegas as an adult playground so it is nice to learn that there are things for the kids as well. And even nicer to know that it is not too expensive

  24. I would love to go to Las Vegas, although I doubt seriously what I will ever get the chance because of health problems in our family; however, if I do get to visit, I too, would want to visit the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory, as well as the aquariums. Thanks for your posting.

  25. I’ve been to Las vegas twice and we really did mostly grown up things. I’m sure there are family friendly things to do, like the Hoover Dam, but it seemed like a lot of the focus was on more adult stuff like gambling and partying.

  26. All those ideas, are indeed very family friendly. But, when I went with my family I didn`t like it. Homeless wandering the streets, drunks, smokers, hecklers, and more. I Personally, disliked Las Vegas. It sounds as though your family can thoroughly enjoy your trip. I Hope you do. “WATCH MORE TV”

  27. Great ideas! We don’t gamble but love to go to Vegas to see all the gorgeous hotels and eat lots of food!

  28. I want to go to Vegas sometime. Something for everyone in the family to enjoy and have fun

  29. I have never been to Las Vegas. I never really had a desire to either. I know a lot of people rave about how fun it is, but it never seemed like my kind of vacation. My boyfriend wants to go there though. I would be willing to go if he takes me to the Bodies museum. That sounds really cool to me!

  30. I was in Las Vegas 25 yrs ago (I got married there) At that time there really wasn’t much “familyfun!” I would like to go back now to check out these “family adventures!

  31. I haven’t been to Las Vegas in years. We’ve been there a couple of times – with friends & then by ourselves. We had a blast!! We seen shows & ate & ate! We even took a bus tour & gambled. Now I have family & friends that moved there – so I would also go to visit them!!

  32. we moved to vegas about 6 months ago. we have a 5 year old daughter and were nervous about the move. the good thing is that vegas – outside of the strip – is surprisingly family friendly! there is so much to do here, especially outdoors. i’d encourage you to stay at a place off the strip if you’re interested in things other than drinking and gambling. you can visit the water park, national parks for hiking, biking, animal watching and rock climbing, and there are quite a few museums, parks, and special events for families.

  33. Wow, I always thought Las Vegas was adult oriented, I wasn’t aware there were so many family-friendly activities there, thanks a lot for posting!

  34. I’ve never been. I have a brother in the military that was stationed there for a while.I always thought of the area as an adult place.

  35. We love Vegas but have never gone with our kids. I have mixed feelings about that. Seems that there are some fun things for them to see and do…so we will consider it in the future…especially as they get older.

  36. We never ever thought Las Vegas would have many things for families. I would love to go! Thanks for your post!

  37. I never thought of Vegas as a family vacation place. I automatically think of gambling, that’s it.I was wrong.
