Trees RockThe 4th annual Scotties TREES ROCK! Video contest is back! Kids in grades 3-5th or 6-8th may now create a 3 minute (or less) video about the importance of trees and win $10,000 for their school!

The video can be many things — a skit, a song, a dance, a speech, a jingle, a poem, or an interpretive dance! The more creative the better! Just make sure to answer one question “Why do trees rock?”

Trees Rock encourages individuals or groups of kids in grades 3, 4, and 5 or 6, 7, and 8 to submit a video about the importance of trees. In each group, the grand prize winner (determined by a national vote) will win $10,000 for their school to use towards a sustainable project. The remaining 10 finalists in both groups will not leave empty-handed either and can walk away with prizes ranging up to $7,000.

Need inspiration? Check out Scotties Facial Tissues YouTube for videos from finalists of years past.  And be sure to watch this intro video from Scotties to get a better idea!

Better at writing than video? Essay entries can be submitted online at ScottiesTreesRock.com and winners will be announced monthly and be awarded $250 in gift cards!

The TREES ROCK! contest centers around educating kids not only on the importance of trees but as part
of a bigger picture of sustainability within the community as a whole. From all of the video entries, 12
finalists will be announced in December 2013 and will go to a public vote on www.ScottiesTreesRock.com to choose the winner. The winner will be announced in February 2014 and the winner event will take place
in April 2014.

  1. Trees rock because they are so beautiful and provide us with shade, air, and wood they are so very important and should get more respect. I have become a tree hugger and am proud of it.

  2. Trees rock because they’re beautiful, they provide cooling shade on hot days, and oxygen for us to breathe.

  3. I love this idea! Are you sure that the dates are correct on this giveaway and video? It says 2013 and Feb 2014 and Dec 2014??? Is this still going from last year? I Love Trees and they Rock because they are not only beautiful in spring/summer, but they provide shade for us and homes for the animals who build their nests in them. They also release oxygen into the air which we breathe!!! Thanks for all the information on the Scotties Trees Rock Program! I think it’s a terrific thing for the kids to do! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

  4. Trees supply us with so many things from our fruits to furniture, paper products and more

  5. Trees are not only beautiful to look at but they give us shade and they are living things.

  6. In my own opinion, trees rock because they provide so much for us! Their leaves produce good air and help us breath better, provide use shade, and give us beauty when they turn color!

  7. Tress rock because they help us breathe and I am really very fond of breathing. They’re pretty too.

  8. Because they provide shade, we make paper and other products out of them and most of all they provide oxygen for us.

  9. I don’t like trees. We have a 300 yr. old oak tree right up against the house. Raking is quite a chore. We’re saving to have it removed. So, trees rock because the wind blows.

  10. What is it about trees that “don’t” rock? haha They give us oxygen, they are beautiful, they provide homes for animals…do I need to keep going? TREES DO ROCK!!!

  11. Trees provide us with shade, wood to build/keep warm, provide homes for many animals, give us oxyen!

  12. Trees Rock because they are beautiful, they provide us with shade, nourishment, they clean the air & provide oxygen, plus they make great homes for birds and other creatures.

  13. Trees rock because they are fun to climb, fun to sit under when it’s hot out, and fun to pick fruit from.

  14. Shade and oxygen! They’re also beautiful and a part of nature and did I mention tree houses?! It’s just something about trees, old and new that are serene–Nature’s playground.

  15. trees rock because they provide a place for birds and squirrels to make nests to have their babies, they provide shade and a place to hang my birdfeeders and windchimes and they are pretty especially in the fall

  16. trees rock because they provide a place for birds and squirrels to build their nests to have babies.they also provide a place to put my birdfeeders and windchimes.

  17. Trees Rock because, when their leaves are on, they provide shade. They take in the carbon dioxide and leave out oxygen into the air. Kids can have Tree Houses in them! They are homes to birds, squirrels and any other little critters that make their home in the trees. Some trees are “flowering” trees and look absolutely beautiful! Tress general outlive people. They are fun to put a “tire” on to swing. There are so many reasons why Trees Rock, I just named a few! Thanks, Michele 🙂

  18. I love trees! They provide habitat for other species, shade for our home, oxygen for our lungs, a place to escape from the “modern” world, leaves to stomp in during the fall, and a sense of wonder for anyone who comes into contact with them. Thanks for this chance to win! 🙂

  19. I grew up in Ann Arbor Michigan so my appreciation for trees began early. I got my first kids under the huge willow in our backyard. I used to stare at them out my window after my parents died, my father telling me before he died he’d be there with every breath. I own land down south and they wanted to cut the trees off my land. I was the only one that said no, we need to breathe don’t we
