NKJV Study Bible

I have been wanting to get a study bible for the longest time now. You see, growing up as a pastor’s kid, I always see study bibles, concordances, various books about the bible and sermon outlines around the house. And even as a young girl, I would open one up and read a few pages of those books because this was something I’m really interested in. I even thought about studying at a bible college.

When I moved out of the house and got married, I didn’t realize how much I’d miss all those bibles and books. Now I’m not saying I’d like a full library of books and bibles — although I did once wish that I’d have my own library just like the one in Beauty & the Beast. But I want to make sure that when I read the bible, I’ll have some resource books around here so I can read further and get a deeper understanding of what I’m reading. So I’m really glad I had the opportunity to receive the NKJV Study Bible for review.

NKJV Study Bible 2

Back when I was in mission school, I learned about the spectrum of bible versions. On one end of the spectrum are those that are really close to the original manuscripts in Hebrew and Greek, and on the other end are the versions that have been translated to make the bible more understandable to the reader. While I’d love to read the bible in words that I can easily understand, I still prefer the versions that are closer to the original — one of which is the New King James Version.

But even though the NKJV is still not as easy to understand as other versions (like AMP or The Message), this bible makes it more understandable because of all the history, background, images, and cross-references it gives the reader. It helps a lot when the context behind a certain situation in the bible is fully explained. Plus, it’s the full-color edition and has lots of images! Anything that has nice images gets additional stars because it caters to visual learners like me!

NKJV Study Bible 3

I love the NKJV Study Bible because it helps me become more equipped as I lead bible studies and cell group meetings at church. And I think anyone who has a leadership position at church, or those with a passion to read and understand the bible, should have this!

BUY IT! The NKJV Study Bible is available at FaithGateway.com.

  5. I’ve been thinking about getting a new Bible, but not sure what one I want to get. I’ve always liked the King James versions for being more like the original Hebrew, but I like the ease of reading the Message Bibles. Thanks for your review, I will look this up online.

  6. This Sounds like a really nice Bible to have for your study purposes. I have read all the other reviews you had on other Bibles that you have received. This Bible is so different. I love the way that it explains things in a way that most people understand. I already picked up our Bibles a few times and I got bored to quickly because it was hard to follow how it’s written. Thanks so much for the review and information on the KJV Bible. I do appreciate it! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

  10. The NKJV study bible is exactly what we need right now. Our young lady has become very aware of christianity, church and the bible. She is bringing us back also but it has been so long that we have forgotten most of our christian upbringing, and with so many scams and different productions out there now it is great to have a real resource to attend us. Thank you.

  11. I grew up Catholic and had religion forced on me. As a child, doing that had the opposite effect on me. As I got older, I did have questions and an interest. This sounds like a good book.

  12. The NKJV is always my favorite translation. It has all the majesty and beauty of the original KJV, but so much easier to understand. And this one looks great – I love that it comes with a Concordance!

  13. This is a great review! I usually use NASB version but I will check out this Bible!

  14. This sounds like a magnificent study bible. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the review.

  15. First of all I think it’s great you stood true to your roots and was always knowledgeable about God and the bible. I grew up in a house where we were also taught the bible and attended church. I am so amazed at the lack of families doing that now a days. Like you I also felt I needed a book that I could truly understand and make sure I knew what I was reading and get the full meaning of it. I have a new tablet coming soon that a friend bought me and I am hoping I can add some good reads especially ones that will help me continue my journey with God. Thanks for sharing your review

  17. I almost always use the NKJV with my other versions and translations, it’s like a compass, to check for accuracy. I love all of the study tools above, much newer than mine.

  22. I love that this stays close to the original Greek and Hebrew texts, yet is more easily understandable “because of all the history, background, images, and cross-references it gives the reader. It helps a lot when the context behind a certain situation in the bible is fully explained.” (Quoted text was a reference pulled from Bay Area Mommy’s Blog.)
