2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT Review

I had the opportunity to do a one week test drive of a Mitsubishi Outlander GT for evaluation purposes. No other compensation was received for this post. Thoughts are my own.

Got snow in your area? Tired of having to put chains on your car tires? Well, even if you don’t have snow in your area, be sure you check out the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT! I must admit that before the Outlander was delivered to me, I was not expecting a lot given the many so-so write-ups I’ve seen. But when I got to actually drive it, I was quite impressed.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT has all the basic features one would expect in a crossover SUV — and more! It seats 7 people with the 3rd row being foldable. So if you just need 5 seats, you can fold the 3rd row seats down and have more storage area.

I love that it has a Super All-Wheel Control 4WD system that you can easily toggle or switch when conditions in your area change. During the time I had the Outlander, we went to Lake Tahoe on a short trip and I must say that this All-Wheel Control was really helpful! We never had any slipping or skidding incidents unlike some of the vehicles we saw while we were in that snow-covered city.

Another great thing we loved about the Outlander is the Super-wide high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. During that one time that we drove at night and there wasn’t a lot of street lights, our friends asked us to lead the convoy because they noticed that our headlights illuminated the road much more (and way better) than theirs did. So in that way, driving the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT was the best and safest decision we’ve made for that trip.

It also has a Lane Departure Warning which alerts you if you’re getting out of your lane (don’t worry, it won’t warn you if you actually meant to switch lanes). Another great feature is the Forward Collision Mitigation. It “measures” your distance or position and alerts you for possible frontal collisions. You’ll also feel the vehicle’s brakes being applied during such instances. Honestly, I’m just amazed. This is the first time I’ve tried any vehicle with that kind of feature!

All in all, I’d say that the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT would still make my list for vehicles to consider if you’re out in the market for SUV or crossovers especially if you live in an area (or plan to go on trips to areas) with varying weather and ground conditions. It may not be as high-end as other SUVs but it’s still A LOT better than others that I’ve tried!

BUY IT! The 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT is priced at around $34,720 depending on any customizations or options you choose, but a basic Outlander starts at around $22,995. Don’t forget to visit your nearest Mitsubishi dealer so you too can experience it for yourself!

  11. Thanks so much for the Fantastic Review on 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander GT! I’m so glad that you found an SUV that you really like! We used to always have cars until we were involved in a terrible hit and run by a drunk driver accident! I was hurt so very badly that every muscle in my body was sprained and sore! I vowed that I would NEVER drive another car for as long as I live! We purchased an SUV and I loved it! Since then We have a 2007 Jeep Compass and I absolutely Love it! It’s a bit smaller than our first SUV, but I’m still higher up than a normal car! We have absolutely no problem in the snow with our Jeep! I’d love to get a new one, however, with our financial situation at this time, it’s just not in the cards! Thanks so much for the fantastic review and all the information on your 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander which you have shared with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! Thanks again! Michele 🙂
