Easy Sweet Ham Recipe #FreshFinds #cbias #shop

Sweet ham is a traditional Christmas dish in our home. Well, not my home here in San Jose, CA, but my home in Manila. I remember my mom buying sweet ham or making them during Christmas. Take note though that Christmas in the Philippines isn’t just December 25. The Christmas season there starts in September and ends on the first week of January. And you’ll see celebrations and Christmas parties starting the first week of December.

Now I may not be with my mom right now but I can still enjoy my favorite Sweet Ham by doing this quick recipe using Cook’s portioned or sliced ham which you can purchase at any Lucky Supermarket.

Great news! Lucky will have a “Buy 1 Get 1 FREE” sale running from November 13 thru November 26 on any of the following mix-and-match items:
– Riverside or Honeysuckle White Frozen Turkeys
– Cooks Ham Portions
– Master Cut Beef Cross Rib Roasts
– Pork Shoulder Roasts
– Honeysuckle Turkey Breasts

Easy Sweet Ham Recipe

What you need:

  • Cook’s portioned or sliced ham
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1oz water

Instructions:

  1. Place ham slices in the middle of a pan.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix pineapple juice and brown sugar.
  3. Pour mixture into the pan with ham.
  4. Add more pineapple juice, if necessary, to cover the ham slices.
  5. Turn the stove on high heat, stirring occasionally so as not to burn the ham until the mixture boils.
  6. Once mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to medium and cook for 30-40 minutes.
  7. Drain and place ham in a plate.
  8. Set aside to cool.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Note: If you want a glazed sweet ham, continue to heat the sugar and water mixture until it thickens. Use as glaze.

  3. We make sweet ham as well, but we use pineapple slices instead of pineapple juice and we bake a whole ham instead of slicing it up and cooking it on the stove. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

  4. Oh how yummy does this sound? Very! We get a ham for Christmas every year and I would love to try this. I think everyone would like it. Wish I had noticed this before Thanksgiving. Pinning it.

  5. Thanks so much for the recipe on Easy Sweet Ham! It sounds delicious! I do my ham a little different. I got this recipe from my Mom and it’s been passed down to her and to her mom and so forth. I take my Ham and put just a few slits in the top of it. I cover the Ham with regular yellow mustard. Then I cover over that with Brown Sugar. I use either a 7-up or a lemon-lime soda for the juice. I cook this in a covered pan @ 350 degrees for a while. I’ll go in and baste the Ham with the juice from time to time checking to see if there’s enough juice on the bottom and the ham isn’t burning. I uncover the ham for a bit and then will cover it back up once it starts to brown on top. I turn the temp on the oven down and let it cook while continuing to baste it. Now, when the ham comes out of the oven, the inside is no longer pink, but a nice color brown from the brown sugar and soda. We use the juice in the pan if someone wants to use it on their mashed potatoes or anything. The Ham is sweet! My husband hated ham and would not eat it until I made it this way for him. Now, he loves it! He even asks for it now and then! However, this Christmas we do not have a Ham. I haven’t had the extra money to purchase one! I have a small canned ham from our local pantry that I really don’t want to use for a Christmas dinner, however, I may have no choice at this point! I like your way of making ham as well! I’ve never tried it with pineapples. I wonder how that would be with my way of making ham? Maybe I’ll have to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing your yummy Sweet ham recipe with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! Thanks again, Michele 🙂

  8. Growing up we had ham every x-mas and turkey every thanksgiving. I can eat ham, but detest turkey. To this day I won’t eat it.But this is about ham. I haven’t had ham in quite a while. Sounds like a dinner idea.
