Shopping For Vintage Clothing At Shabby Apple

I received a vintage dress from Shabby Apple for evaluation purposes. Thoughts are my own.

As you already know, I love love love dresses — especially if it’s light and breezy but still modest. And in December, my friend’s twin daughters will be celebrating their 18th birthday with a “Great Gatsby” theme. I’ve been looking around for some vintage dresses that I can wear to the event. Great thing there’s Shabby Apple — an online boutique that offers beautiful vintage clothing.

Shabby Apple’s Truly Madly Deeply Dress is a short-sleeve, light grey A-line dress.

It has a side zipper so you can easily put slip it on. The skirt begins below the natural waist where it’s pleated. The fabric is 95% Polyester and 5% Spandex. Here are some (a lot?) of my photos:

The model over at Shabby Apple actually styled the dress with a thick sash or scarf around the waist but since I didn’t have anything like that, I tried to style it with something thinner — a cloth headband — around the waist (see middle photos) but I don’t really like the effect. I like the cloth headband better on my hair than around the waist because it also helps achieve a more vintage look.

A really like A-line dresses because it masks my huge hips. The only thing I don’t love about this is the upward stitching in front from the waist line to the chest because it doesn’t end perfectly on the curve of my chest — but then maybe it’s because my chest is smaller than most women so that probably won’t be much of a problem to you.

All in all, I like this vintage dress. It looks so classy and since it’s in plain light grey, it will be very easy to style it up with various accessories depending on the kind of look you wish to achieve.
