Driving The 2014 Toyota Venza Limited

I had the opportunity to do a 1-week test drive of a 2014 Toyota Venza Limited for purposes of evaluation. Thoughts are my own.

The Toyota Venza is a mid-size crossover SUV that can seat up to 5 people. Let’s admit it, sometimes a regular 5-seat sedan can be a little too small for families who love traveling or shopping or just basically love more space. The 2014 Toyota Venza Limited is basically built to be bigger than a regular sedan but smaller than the average SUV.

The Venza I drove was in gray and it looked to sleek when I first saw it. For some reasons, I felt like it was a “sexy” vehicle. I guess it’s because it’s not as big as vans and SUVs. And it helped that the color was a classic shiny gray.

The back compartment of the 2014 Toyota Venza is just so big! I feel like if we were to go on a family vacation, this would be a perfect vehicle for us because there’d be enough space for our luggages, stroller and toys for the little one! I love that the back door opens and shuts easily with the push of a button.

One feature that may be petty for some but I feel is very important is the cover for the stuff in your back compartment. You know sometimes I bring my laptop when we’re out of the house and if we need to buy something from the store, I don’t want unauthorized persons to be peeking and seeing my laptop so a cover is definitely a good idea. Here are some of the Venza’s features:

Safety:

  • Airbags For All: Venza comes with seven airbags, including both driver and front passenger airbags as well as a driver knee airbag.
  • Blind Spot Mirrors: Venza’s heated power outside mirrors now incorporate convex blind spot mirrors, which make it easier to view vehicles in adjacent lanes.
  • Child Seat Security: Venza comes with a LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) restraint system. With lower anchors and tethers on the rear seats, LATCH helps you properly and securely restrain child safety seats to help keep passengers safe. Zipper pockets makes installing and removing child seats a breeze.
  • Safety Connect®: Via Toyota’s 24/7 call center, available Safety Connect® 25 offers subscribers helpful features such as Emergency Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Locator, Roadside Assistance and Automatic Collision Notification.

Interior:

  • Multi-Stage Heated Front Seats: Enjoy soothing warmth on a chilly winter day. The leather-trimmed front seats feature multi-stage heating so the driver and front passenger can adjust the temperature to their own liking.
  • Panoramic View Moonroof: Thanks to power tilt/slide moonroof above the front seats and a panoramic glass roof above the rear seats, Venza creates an open and airy driving experience for the whole family.
  • Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control: Now the whole family can ride comfortably. Venza’s dual zone automatic climate control lets front-seat passengers select their own temperature settings.

Technology:

  • Smart Key System: Great of when you have your hands full! As long as the Smart Key 13 fob is in your pocket or purse, you can lock the front doors or liftgate by simply touching the top of the door handle, and start the engine with a push of a button.
  • Navigation w/ Entune® & JBL®: The Premium HDD Navigation system helps keep you informed with turn-by-turn directions, while JBL® GreenEdge™ audio and SiriusXM Radio15 provide the soundtrack for whatever road you’re on. With Entune® App Suite, you can find movies with MovieTickets.com, create playlists with Pandora® and access over 16 million points of interest with Bing™.

Now let’s go inside the car and check out the driver’s area. You see here some of the controls that are accessible to the driver. I love the heated seats that can be controlled individually. I think it’s also a good idea that the shift gear’s position is angled in such a way that it’s easier for the driver to see it.

The positions of the seats and the mirrors can be set to that you don’t have to change it every time someone else drives the car. I know this is very convenient for me and my husband sine he’s a lot taller than me and we have way different seat positions and angles for our mirrors.

Oh and I must say that they thought so well about the compartment box in the middle of the driver and the passenger’s seat. You can actually move the cover so you can access an even bigger compartment (not just for coins and small stuff!). There’s also a power outlet so you can charge your phone.

I’d say one of my favorite features of the 2014 Toyota Venza Limited is the moon roof. My husband, son and I all love it when a vehicle has a moon roof! I love how we can just look up to see the sky while traveling. And of course, it’s a lot more exciting for my son because he gets too see more than the usual cars in front of us and beside us on the road. The moon roof isn’t panoramic and I think it’s perfect for when you want to stand up and wave to a crowd — much like how others do it during motorcades.

  1. Wow! The features on this car seem great! YOu are so lucky you get to try these vehicles out. I hate my car, and I would love to drive some brand new cars for a while!

  2. I was drawn to this post because my daughter just bought a new Rav 4. The two cars to me are more similar than not. The Rav4 is also a small SUV, but with some really cool features! I don’t know about the Venza, but I imagine they are pretty similar. She has all the computer stuff and the cameras to help her park and back up. The most surprising thing to me is the way she can go from automatic transmission to a standard with a slap of a handle. There is so much more! I am really impressed.

  3. In searching for a family car I was looking at the Toyota Venza — looks like it will serve our family well — a little higher than what I wanted to pay but we are trying to work out our budget and make this new car a reality for us.

  4. i love all the great features and she sure is pretty, looks like lots of elbow room also 😉 thanks for the great review @tisonlyme143

  5. This vehicle does look so nice and roomy. I have a Toyota 4runner and I really enjoy it. Thank you so much for sharing this
