There are a lot of things I hate about diapering and these are why I’ve been wanting my 2-year old to fully start using the toilet independently. There’s the high cost of disposable diapers (which we use for when we’re traveling or at night), the hassle of having to change a diaper every few hours (my son wants me to change his diaper as soon as he feels that he has peed), and of course, the diaper rashes.

Since we use cloth diapers most of the time, my son doesn’t really get diaper rashes often.

In a previous post I talked about one of the reasons why my son gets rashes. Sometimes it happens when his skin gets in contact with a dirty diaper for a longer period of time. Whenever that happens, I clean the area with lukewarm water, lightly pat it dry, air it out for a couple of minutes, and apply some Hyland’s Baby Diaper Ointment on the area just before putting on his diaper.

Hyland's Diaper Ointment for Rashes

Hyland’s Baby Diaper Ointment is awesome for natural soothing relief for diaper rashes and skin irritations.

Its active ingredient is the Calendula Officinalis 1X which soothes rashes and skin irritation. I guess this is what makes the ointment effective in just a matter of hours.

The ointment has a thick gel-like consistency and I just put a lot of it on my son’s skin to soothe the irritation. I have tried it a few months ago and I saw that it was effective on my son’s skin — which can be a bit too sensitive at times. It works fast on his diaper rashes unlike other diaper rash creams I’ve used where I had to deal with the rashes for days. So it has become my go-to solution for diaper rashes ever since.

Dealing With Diaper Rashes — 14 Comments

  1. I never tried this, but it sounds great. My daughter never got any diaper rash while she was nursing – even when she started solid food, so we were pretty lucky. I remember my little brother had awful diaper rash, and my mom smeared Desitin all over him. It stunk and made a mess! (Didn’t really fix the rash, either) Wish my mom knew about Hyland’s back then!
