It’s Sunday once again! One of the worship songs we will be singing at church later is entitled “Still”, the main point of which comes from Psalm 46:10: “Be still; and know that I am God.” (NIV)
In a post I wrote last week about risks, faith and rewards, I told you about my husband’s situation for the past few months. It was not easy to be waiting and waiting for a company’s call and not get it for weeks. My husband told me in March that he feels that God is assuring him and telling him to be patient based on the verses he read. But since it had been weeks without a call, it was hard to be patient and not give up.
Still we continued to pray and just lift it all up to God. We knew there was nothing we can do to make it happen. But if God wills it, then it will happen. We just had to be still — to have that peace — and remember that He is God and that He holds our lives in His hands.
So did he get the job? Yes he did!
We have had several experiences where the Lord has provided for our needs and has even given us some extras on the side. And for that we are thankful. I had such a hard time keeping myself from crying during last week’s worship because I was just so overwhelmed by His goodness!
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way.” Psalm 46:1-2a (NIV)
Maybe you’re in that kind of situation right now. I don’t know, but God knows. We don’t know what will happen, but I encourage you to pray and trust that He knows what’s best for us. I leave you with the lyrics (and a video) to the song in the hopes that you will somehow be encouraged for today.
Hide me now under Your wings
Cover me within Your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father, You are king over the flood
I will be still, know You are God
Find rest my soul in Christ alone
Know His power in quietness and trust
I could use some encouragement right now. Just as things start to look up something major happens. It sure seems like we’re never going to get ahead. I know we will. I’m just having a pity party!
Happy Sunday to you, too.
sunday is the best day day in every week of every month of every year of lifetime.
Blessed Sunday to you dear!
Faith is the best thing you can have when looking for work right now (or at least that is what I am believing while I am looking)
I love sundays….just to relax and do nothing
🙂
Happy Sunday to you too, I also love Sundays 🙂
Congrats on the husband’s new job!
Happy Sunday and Congrats
Im so glad that he got the job!! god is great.Have A Great Weekend
Sometimes the words of a worship song speak to me better than the sermon for the day. We’re going through the selling of our house, which also is requiring patience and leaning on God for the right timing. Thanks for the reminder.
That’s one of my favorite Psalms! Congratulations to your husband!
Happy Day! Sundays are the best day to give us a rest and have a family
I do believe that God helped you, because you were trying. Congratulations!
It’s such a great song! 🙂
Sometimes the Lord works in mysterious ways, so sometimes you just have to trust what is happening is what is meant to be happening at that time 🙂

God is so good. He always holds me in his hand through good and bad. We learn through our trials and we do have to learn patience. Thank you so much for this great article and this beautiful song. God Bless
