Learning Kit For Teaching Children

Teaching Children: “Teach My Baby” Kit Review

My mom, aside from being a pastor, is also an educator. She used to be a preschool teacher… until she became a preschool principal… until she became a trainer for others who are teaching children in preschools. I somehow took a similar path when I was working before as a trainer for customer service and communication skills. I wasn’t exactly teaching children then because my students were adults.

Even though I’m not working anymore (which is sad because I so loved my job), I’m glad that I still get to “teach” at our bible study from time to time. I guess I could say that teaching — or sharing knowledge — is my passion.

Christy Cook, owner and creator of the Teach My learning kits, says that parents are the most effective in teaching children.

I agree! During the first few years of a child’s life, it is the parents that spends the most time with the child. What better way to spend that time than by teaching children some words or concepts! Teach My has 3 kits for teaching children depending on their stage: Teach My Baby (for kids ages 6 months and up), Teach My Toddler (for kids 18 months and up) and Teach My Preschooler (for kids 3 years and up).

I received the Teach My Baby learning kit for my son. It is divided into 4 sections — First Words, First Numbers, Self and Sound & Touch.  It comes in a yellow storage case as opposed to blue for the Teach My Toddler and green for the Teach My Preschooler kits. The pack includes: 12 One-Piece Puzzles, 6 Two-Piece Puzzles, 6 Touch and Feel Flashcards, 6 Mirrored Flashcards, 6 Mirrored Nesting Blocks, 5 Finger Puppets, 4 Board Books, 1 Double-Sided Storyboard and a Teaching Guide. This is how it looks when they ship it: Learning Kit For Teaching Children And here’s a photo I took of all that’s included inside. The sections are separated from each other though so you don’t have to worry about figuring out which items are included in each section. Learning Kit For Teaching Children Having been raised by a mother who loves teaching children, I know how visual kids are when it comes to learning. So I appreciate that all of the sections take that into consideration. My son loves the finger puppets the most. I guess he loves the voices I use and the actions.  And lately, he’s been taking the initiative and bringing me one of the books so we can read and identify what’s in it. I appreciate that Teach My Baby has helped my son develop a love for reading and learning. So I guess even as a stay-at-home mom, I could still live out my passion for teaching by concentrating on my son as he learns about the world around him. I may never have dreamed of becoming a a housewife/homemaker/stay-at-home mom but at least I could spend as much time with my son as I can. I get to teach him and see him learn one thing at a time. I think this is the best profession I could ever have.

  2. Those kits are adorable. It also makes learning fun! and Makes a great baby shower gift too!

  3. This is a great idea and I can get one for my eight month old and my two year old. I would like to help my kids as best I can. In hopes of taking away what stress I can from learning, especially if they get the benefit of learning earlier. Makes them less stressful. I know my son had a hard time adjusting when he first went into school. So this would be a great idea for his sisters.

  4. This looks a wonderful kit. It has sounds and everything! I love the real animal photos (because usually they’re cheesy cartoons) and how the color themes change with age!

  5. I would love to get my son the Teach my baby kit to set aside time each day for learning! These look like great little kits and they are a decent price too! I will have to look into them… Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  6. This is such a great idea. I think teaching our children is so important because the younger they are the easier it is to learn and retain. Making learning fun is all the better. Thank you so much for sharing
