Review: Weirder Than Marshmallows – Nice Ebook To Read!
“Ignorance, lack of common sense, and downright inhuman stupidity run rampant in this country and around the world.
I watch people, and I hear stories, and they beg, beg, beg to be mocked and ridiculed.”
I had the opportunity to review a nice ebook to read entitled “Weirder Than Marshmallows” by Dan Fogg.
This ebook is actually a compilation of essays about the author’s observations on just about every random thing. It showcases tales of stupidity and ignorance and stories are divided into five categories.
Do Not Stop on Tracks showcases warnings that should never have to be warned.
En Masse contains stories of mass ignorance.
Technology Sucks explores the hazards of the technological age.
That’s Just Freaky features Twilight Zone like tales of paranormality.
Weird Stuff is stuff that is… well, weird.
Since all the stories on the book are true, you will from time to time wonder if you’ve ever been in that kind of situation and you will from time to time say “I know right!”
Those lines that I quoted from this ebook to read perfectly captures the overall tone of the book. It, not necessarily celebrates, perhaps highlights, the bizarre things around us that we probably just ignore. Say for example, a sign that says “Do Not Stop On Tracks” pertaining to railroad tracks. The author pokes fun at the fact that there are people who actually stop on railroad tracks that a sign had to be put up for something that should actually have been really obvious.
There’s also his observations on the simple but incorrect things that others do or say repeatedly such as interchanging loose and lose. And then there’s this story about a girl who needed to heat her Hot Pocket, was told to heat it in the microwave for 2 and a half minutes and instead of entering 2:30 on the microwave, entered 2:50 instead. The lady didn’t even realize she was wrong so the author just eventually told her to enter 2:30.
Weirder Than Marshmallows is kind of like reading Chicken Soup for the Soul with sarcasm and without the drama. It’s a short and light ebook to read for those of us who just want to pass some time without getting bored. Read it and see the world through the eyes of Dan Fogg.
